Cargo Tales, Pt. 3: Davies Whānau

March 29, 2021 2 min read

During February, we offered families from five different schools around Wellington the opportunity to take the Yuba Spicy Curry bike home for an extended test ride, to give the cargo lifestyle a go.

We thought it would be fun to share some of the stories that we received from the families who took part. We hope that these may inspire some of you who have been considering making the jump to two wheels to come in and take a bike home for an extended test ride of your own.

This episode of the cargo tales we bring you the story of the Davies Whānau, who created an amazing video as part of their submission which you can watch below!

In 250 words or less tell us the most important ways riding a cargobike made a positive difference to your family.

In short: - We saved time and money. The money is a big one for us (we're now on one income thanks to Covid) - Multiple stops were easy as our toddler didn't protest getting in and out (like the car seat) - We did more! - When the toddler was teething and cranky, we could happily ride over the hill and to the ocean, instead of grizzling at home

Tell us a fun story from your time riding the cargobike.

The 20 month who hates anything being on his head and has to be forced to wear a hat, would grab his helmet, waddle over to the Cargo bike and try to climb on himself. He might not be able to talk, but he can surely communicate his love of the bike.

What surprised you the most about riding the cargobike?

That both parents could do it! Mum was nervous at first, but nailed it.

In your childrens own words, how do they describe riding the cargobike.

Great! Check out the video to see their thoughts.

Any further comments or feedback regarding the trial?

It was a pleasure, thank you. We enjoyed the community side of it, Cargo bike people are great. One day we parked up next to another trial user at Moore Wilson's and ended up having a Moore Wilson's worker come out and chat about the bikes.

Thanks for your story Davies Whānau!

If you enjoyed this post, keep an eye out and have a look on our blog using the filter 'Family Rides' because we have a bunch of other stories we have or will be releasing soon.
